Is Free Shipping Really Free?

I always like to see what the competition is saying and selling, that’s business. I have noticed that the majority of online futon retailers are claiming that they give you free shipping. I thought to myself, how can they do it? How can they ship a large item like a futon for free.? Did I give my UPS rep a call and ask him how they do it? Not a chance, sorry for the sarcasm, but it just isn’t true. Any retailer that tells you that they offer free shipping, while at the same time they tell you that if you would like to return an item shipping is non-refundable is out right insulting your intelligence. This is a pretty standard practice for online futon retailers, but Goodnightmoonfuton.com is trying to be up front about the fact that shipping futons does cost money. You can see all of our frequently asked questions and the answers to them here.

National Fire Codes Make Futons Safer

July 1st, the federal government passed a new Federal Fire Law (16 CFR - Part 1633), which means every futon mattress manufactured must be able to resist an open flame burn test. So, what does that mean for you and me? Well, the first and foremost, fire resistance means safer futon mattresses. The flip side to this issue is that now futon mattresses are costing more to make, and those costs usually trickle down to the consumer. I guess that’s just the cost of safety.

With the new fire codes, more fire retardant materials are now going into your futon mattress, which is a big turn off for anyone who wants an organic futon. But wait, did you know you can get a 100% organic mattress made with a doctors prescription. So if you’re serious about getting an organic futon mattress, talk to your doctor and see what they can do for you.

Cheap Futons?

I’ve seen a lot of people searching for cheap futons in the last few months. It could be that college season is upon us or it could be that people are just being thrifty, i don’t know. What I do know is that my customers are looking to get their moneys worth on whatever product they decide to purchase. So lets take a look at a “cheap” futon and a futon that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. To me “cheap futons” are the type that you find at those “mega marts”, futons that look like a good deal but but might not withstand the test of time. Affordable futons, are futons within your budget that will actually give you a descent usable life, 5-7 years, and come with a warranty. It doesn’t make much sense to buy a super cheap futon, only to replace it in a year or so.

Futon Mattresses: Foam vs. Natural Fibers.

Finding the right futon mattress can sometimes feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. In your search for the perfect futon mattress you may have found mattresses that fall into several categories: all foam, all cotton, or foam and cotton combined.
A few things to keep in mind when you choose between the various mattresses on the market are:
1. Natural fiber futons will change over time, cotton can compress the more it’s used.
2. Any futon mattress worth it’s own weight, will have a warranty. If you can’t find the warranty info listed, ask the retailer for it.
3. There are futon mattresses designed for sleeping, sitting or both. Make sure the futon you’re looking at is right for how you’d like to use it.
