Arzu Firuz has come up with a really interesting idea to make something beautiful from old tarps. By cutting a pattern in an old tarp the light passing through creates very intricate patterns on whatever surface it falls on. I feel it’s slightly reminiscent of a stained glass window.
I also like the fact that this will keep some materials out of our landfills by finding a creative use for what could otherwise be seen as trash.

I’ve been checking out all my blogs today (not mine, just the ones that I frequent) and I was struck by a post over at the Blog Entrepeneur comparing the skills needed to become a good salesman (or saleswomen) and being a good blogger. And while I do feel there can be a correlation between the two, I don’t really think it applies unless you’re trying to make money off your blog.
The post did make a great point about listening to your readers though. This would be especially important if you want to give your readers what they want. I know I do, but at the same time I’m not trying to sell myself. I am only what I am, and I post about things I enjoy. I think blogging can be that simple, and for me it makes the process more enjoyable.
So, if you like what you see feel free to comment or come back to read again.
And, as always,

I’m done ranting now.

The Twine table looks like a button to me. The Designer (Wis Design) makes has a great description about the concept:
A set of tables inspired by one of the oldest ways of attaching one object to another – with a needle and thread. The wire is twined through the table top, and becomes legs as well as upholding construction.
The playful Twine Tables are completely at ease by a sofa, an easy chair, or just by itself.

When I was younger I had a no frills futon frame and mattress in my first apartment. And I loved it. Let’s walk through a flashback together.
When I was 18 I lived in Burlington, Vermont in an attic apartment on the fourth floor of an old apartment building. Well, nothing nice would fit in that apartment, hell I couldn’t even get a loveseat style sofa through the door. That’s when I went down to Burlington Futon and bought an unfinished Savannah Futon Frame and an all cotton futon mattress. Everything was unassembled and fit through the door into my tiny apartment.
In the twelve years since my tastes and living situation have changed. Well guess what, the futon has changed as well. Take the Fusion Convert-a-couch for example. It looks like a traditional sofa, fit’s through any doorway since it’s UPS-able like a futon, and it folds down into full size bed. Looks like the futon frame has finally grown up.

Everywhere I turn on the web these days it seems that everyone is having a contest to promote their blog or website. At first I didn’t really go for it, but I think the idea is growing on me. So, I think I may offer a free month 125×125 of advertising on the Futon Blog, for two advertisers. Just leave a comment on this post to be the running. Here are the rules.
1. There can be only one entry per advertiser.
2. No Porn or Gambling websites.
3. Anonymous comments will not count, you must enter your email in your comment.
4. You must provide a 125×125 image for the site.
5. The two winners will be determined on the 18th of April using the Random Integer Generator.
So, lets begin.

The Kitt’ Stool uses kitt to glue little pieces of high quality wood together. Although the seat looks hard like wood, it is flexible like a pillow because of the flexibility of the kitt between the wood. This stool combines a nice modern base with a traditional butcher block style seat that holds a surprise.

Tierips are used to construct this stool and chair. Little holes in the material provide room to join loose pieces of trespa without using any glue. Available as “do”it yourself” version and readymade.

Here’s an entire
Brightdoor that says yes or no with green and red. The light switches as you lock or unlock. By using the Brighthandle technology with a building’s safety system leads to an ultimate combination of functionality and design. The Brightdoor is constructed in a special plastic surface which efficiently spreads the light.
Check it out, and as always,

As you can see, the
Brighthandle has taken a step up the evolutionary ladder. Now the Brighthandle has a longer light time, more advanced LED technology, and it’s easier to install. Plus it looks really cool and modern.
