How do Futon Mattresses Usually Ship?
Most futon mattresses on the market today are able to be shipped via UPS or FedEx. This is often achieved through the use of vacuum and roll packing, as this will compress the futon mattress in order to make it small enough for the size requirements of either shipper. What people don’t often realize is that there is a period of time required, and often a little fluffing before a futon mattress full decompresses after such a journey.
For instance, today I received a call from a customer who ordered an eight inch futon mattress on my retail site. The mattress arrived and immediately the out of the packaging the futon mattress was no where near fully decompressed. That is completely normal, especially for a cotton and foam combination futon mattress.
So, here’s what you need to remember if your you order a futon mattress that is shipped via UPS:
1. Right out of the packaging your mattress will need 24 to 48 hours to fully decompress.
2. you can expedite the process by fluffing the mattress vigorously (walking on, pushing down on, and slapping are good methods).
3. After the decompression period your mattress should be good to go.
That’s pretty much it, just remember not to panic and follow those steps. You and your new mattress will thank me.
-Enjoy
