Grandfather Clocks

In my opinion, theres nothing quite as classic as a grandfather clock. My grandparents had one (both families), both of similar styles, and to this day I can still remember that soothing, steady click clock sound. Well, my grandparents houses were quiet so it may have been memorable because there wasn’t a whole lot of noise as well ;)

Anyhow, when ever I see a grandfather clock, especially the very classic, simple styles, my childhood memories always come back to me. I can remember winding the clock for one of my grandmothers’ and it was really quite interesting to check out the inner workings. Seeing all the gears, the pendulum, and the weights that kept the clock running do there thing was something else. I can imagine that most young boys would have enjoyed checking that out.

You’re probably wondering what got me on this grandfather clock tip today? I was browsing online when I found a site called 1-800-4-CLOCKS.com. I checked out their blog as well, and who knew there was some much info on grandfather clocks in one place. 1-800-4-CLOCKS.com had discussions going about decorating, design, shopping, and advise on clock vendors which I really enjoyed. They also had a wide selection of Howard Miller clocks, if I were to get a grandfather clock that’s the brand I’d go for. Nice styles and designs there.
