Strange Mattress Contest

While this is not my cup of tea, the mattress chucking contest held by Trent Bedding does seem to be a good natured event. I was actually a bit impressed by just how far that woman threw the mattress. But, let’s be honest, she “ain’t chuckin” a pillow top or anything. Sorry the the backwoods “chuckin” btw, I have a tendency to blurt out that type of language when I see a backwoods style event.

Just one more reason to get a futon!

For those of you out there that are into football (you know who you are), here’s another reason to get a comfy futon. That reason is football season! There’s no need to be holed up on a sofa or futon that doesn’t cut it, you and your guests should be comfortable while the games on. right?

But, maybe the experience can get a little deeper with the WaiverWire Beta site now up. WaiverWire is a fully interactive football fan site, it offers forums, fantasy football teams, stats, news, plus some sort of Guru feature. Not too sure what that is. Now, all you football junkies with a computer can get your fix whenever and wherever you have internet access. Just try not to get caught at work :) Waiverwire.com Beta also gives you real time Game Day Scores!

As for the other site features, the design is nice. It definitely read’s like a sports site should. WaiverWire is easy to navigate and find just what you’re looking for. The only feature I wasn’t to keen on was the ticker in the middle of the page, the text moved a bit faster than I liked.

If you’re into football, you should give WaiverWire a browse, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Cars that run on compressed air!

Air Pod Car

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Air Pod from MDI Enterprizes, it’s a car that runs on compressed air. The oddly shaped automobile will reportedly reach a top speed of 70kmh (44mph) and cruise 100-kilometers (62 miles) on just $2. The secret? A minuscule compressed air-powered engine on each of the rear wheels, both of which get instructed by the car’s joystick. I love the idea that’s behind these cars, but I don’t think my great dane would beable to ride in one comfortably.

Not what I’d expect!

Last night Noelle and I were chilling out after I we spent the entire day building a twenty five foot ramp for our nine and a half year old great dane. His hips are getting very bad and it was almost impossible for him to keep using the stairs.

But, wait, I did have a point to this post. As Noelle and I were relaxing, flipping through the channels we stops for a minute at Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. It was rediculous, the personalities were way too large and out of control. All I could think was if all spa rehab centers were like this, its a wonder that anyone gets healthy at all. Hopefully low key centers like the Promises Treatment Center are different.

Finding a new life for old mattresses

I see more and more companies like Canada based MattCanada making a huge difference in chaning garbage into a resource. MattCanada takes a mattress that normally decomposes in a landfill for 20-30 years and turns 80% of it into a reusable resource for the bedding or other industries. Having worked in the bedding industry for years and seeing just how many mattress get replaced every day, companies like MattCanada are what we really need. Check out the vid and visit their site for more info.

Are you keeping your ear to the tracks?

I almost always like to keep a heads up (or ear to the financial track) for new opportunities to generate some income, and when I saw a site that’s all about franchise opportunities I had to check it out. I also wanted to share the link, you might find an opportunity that’s right for you.

Wow!

I don’t usually post anything about politics on my blog, but the video below really made me laugh. You’ll see John Macain make a very funny blooper and then frantically back peddle, mostly unsuccessfully. Check it out and enjoy!

Moving to a foreign country? Who are you going to use?

So, last year my friend, Rick, moved down to Belize in Central America. He packed up as many of his personal belongings into his Toyota Fore Runner as possible and drove the five thousand mile journey all by himself. Sounds great right? Well, he still had a storage unit full of his other possessions to come back and ship down to his new digs in Belize.

What Rick should have done was checked out the international moving section of International Movers website. The site gives you all the info you’d need to figure our the cost, times, and removal of the hassle for you international move. So, if you’re thinking about getting the heck out of dodge, visit International Movers to see what you’re options are.

Patchwork Furnishings

Patchwork Collection

Amy Hunting has created a very interesting home furnishing collection using wood waste and off-cuts were collected from factories in Denmark. I’m not too sure about the structural soundness of the pieces themselves, but I do know that they look extremely interesting. Visit Amy’s site to view her entire collection.

Is your home secure?

I think quite a few people these days ask themselves that very question, is my home secure? Those of you who own security systems probably say yes, or at least hope the answer is yes. I think quite often this issue can boil down to paranoia, the odds of being burgled are quite slim. Especially when you have a large dog like mine!
