College Futon Loft

College Futon Loft

I just found these cool College Loft Beds and I must say I’m pretty impressed by what I saw. I might even go so far as to say these are the next best thing to a futon frame for a college student. Space saving and solid, a loft will double the usefulness of your space. Plus, a futon fits underneath quite conveniently. Check them out and enjoy.

Did the credit crunch get you?

With the economy in rough shape, the subject of debt hes come up on the news and on many informational site fairly often this year. Excess debt has been a huge problem for many consumers and investors alike. Luckily, Noelle and I have managed to keep our debt under control. It’s a fairly rare event when either Noelle or I decide to purchase something we don’t need on credit. We rarely ever purchase any items that we can’t pay for at the end of the billing cycle.

Keeping such good practices has kept us mostly clear of the credit troubles that are so abundant on the news. We have our mortgage and live fairly modest living expenses. This has allowed us to go on as though it’s life as normal for us. For those of you who haven’t faired as well, there are quite a few options in which you can reduce your debt. There are companies like IVA that specialize in helping regular people reduce their outstanding debts so they can get back on solid footing again. So, take that first step to a secure financial future. You won’t regret it/

Japanese Butcher Block Chair

The Kashiwado Modern Japanese Chair is a bit more than a butcher block chair. It’s also a piece of art. If I had an extra $12,400 I’d pick one up (yeah right).

Designed for Tendo Japan, 1961

The Kashiwado chair is a fabulous yet hard to find icon of modern design, a work of art, a master piece. Stunning in every way, perfect for upscale residential and commercial projects. A spectacular piece of sculpture which still maintains its principal function: seating. The Kashiwado chair will be custom made for you by the original workshop in Japan.

Designed by Isamu Kenmochi for Tendo Japan in 1961. The Kashiwado chair was actually created for a famous Sumo wrestler named Kashiwado from that time. This chair is truly a work of art which takes several weeks to create. Craftsmen first cut out several blocks of the bottom roots of a Japanese cedar (Sugi). They carefully select the best wood with most tree-rings. The blocks are carved and layered on top of each other with a special process. The chair is polished and coated afterwards.

Isn’t the Holiday Shopping Season Over?

When I think about holiday shopping, I usually associate late November and early December as the times when most consumers are out in full force. Today, however, I read an news story about retailers offering huge discounts in order to keep holiday shoppers out at the stores. on the day after Christmas!

Ok, I must admit I may be a bit behind the times when it comes to shopping. Apparently the day after Christmas has been a large shopping day for some time now. With gift cards and exchanges and discounted prices, it’s not really a surprise. When I read this eye opening (to me at least) news today, I took a look at some of the last minute gifts from Kmart. Kmart has always been a reasonably priced store, at least from what I can remember. But, with all the discounts you can find on the day after Christmas I found huge deals on electronics, clothes, and jewelry. On their website they actually had a 32″ high definition flat screen TV for only $499. Plus, Kmart is offering $1 shipping on every item on their site! You can go wrong with deals like that.

Futon Guest Beds For the Holidays

Orion Futon

Orion Bed

If you haven’t squared away your holiday guest bedding needs by today, Christmas Eve, chances are your guests are sleeping on the couch or an air mattress. Luckily, most of my customers planned ahead and picked up a futon early for their space. Quite a few selected futon frames like the Orion (pictured above) that can be used for more than a bed. These multi-use futon frames are perfect for home offices or living rooms that are mostly used for purposes other than sleeping. When guests arrive the futon frames are easily converted to extra bedding making them the best of both worlds.

Home School Options

This semester my little sisiter, Zoe, recently started a high school completion program that is home school based. After being unhappy in a traditional high school setting, Zoe looked into options the were totally stand alone or those which were assisted, with a Science, English, orMath Tutor available when you had questions or needed help. She choose one with assistance available if it was needed and seem much happier now that’s she’s out of the traditional high school setting.

Starship Chair

Starship chair

I was totally blown away when I first saw the Starship Chair at inmod. Sleek rounded lines combined rather well with a swivel base and a recliner function. The Starship Chair is a must have for your modern space, or if you’re way too into Star Trek than is healthy.

Inspired by the works of Charles and Ray Eames, Arne Jacobsen is considered one of the most influential furniture designers of the last century. His Egg Chair, designed in 1956 is perhaps the single-most recognizable icon of 20th century interior design. True to the original, this quality reproduction, The Starship Chair, has a molded fiberglass frame. Improvements include a fire retardent polyurethane foam with high quality crepe pure wool upholstery from Denmark.

It’s never too early to think about your garden!

Every year Noelle and I plant a small garden. Usually we plant tomatoes, squash, zucchini, and an assortment of lettuce and herbs. It also seems to us that every year we get started on that project a bit too late. Maybe this year will be different. I’ve already started looking around the net for ways to improve our garden, from planting and pruning tips to interesting garden accessories.

For instance, I found some very stylish metal accessories from Stonebank Ironcraft. Stonebank manufactures gazebos, fencing, plant stands, bowers, and seating areas out of metal in a variety of finishes. While some of the items on Stonebanks website look like simple affairs, the construction and attention to detail shows me that these are well made with an eye towards the small details. I could totally see a cool metal garden accessory in our garden. It’s would really make everything a bit more interactive and make me want to spend a little leisure time out there this year.

Retro Day Bed

Day Bed

The design of the Circles Day Bed frame reminds me of something you’d see in the 70’s. Made to hold a twin size mattress, the Circle Day Bed can double as extra seating or a guest bed in a pinch. Solid wood construction and pine slats make this one a sturdy addition to any space.

Beds Frames

Metal Bed Frame

Since I generally sell platform style bed frames, I usually have to refer any customers who want a metal bed frame to another retailer. Often I try to online retailers like The Sleep Shop since their prices include shipping within the US. It’s just simplifies the referral, to me anyhow.
