Summer is one of my favorite times of year, the whether is nice, our gardens are growing and we can all spend time outside! When I think about heading outside to hang out, I also think about Adirondack chairs and patio furniture. This morning I found some really nice “plastic wood” outdoor furniture that looks great and lasts forever! And the site name, Cozy Days, was truly fitting, overall a good web browsing experience!

If you found this blog post you’re probably contemplating buying a futon mattress online. Or, you’ve recently purchased a futon mattress and might not be as impressed with your new futon as you hoped to be. So, what do you really need to look at / for before purchasing a new futon mattress online?

1. Check the return policy!
   Most online futon retailers don’t accept returns on futon mattresses. In most states it’s against state law to resell a mattress as new once it’s been in someones home. But, people have pets, and who knows what else in their homes. I personally would be a little nervous buying from a company that took mattresses back for fear of getting a used mattress!
2. Mattress Warranties:
   Make sure the mattress you’re buying has a warranty! Warranties only (usually) cover materials and construction. That refers to the seams, casing, and fill, not whether or not you like the mattress. No retailer has a guarantee that you’ll be personally satisfied, but everyone is different and it’s a hard thing to accommodate everyone.
3. Check the shipping policy:
   Online Retailers who do take merchandise back normally don’t refund shipping charges to or from the customers location. Think about it, you might live half way across the country from your retailer of choice. It’s not like driving down to your local furniture store, so make 100% sure before you purchase, it can save you hundreds in the end.

At the dojo last week, one of my friends mentioned that he and his wife were headed to Las Vegas for their anniversary! I was a bit surprised, when I went Vegas was smokey, dark, and a little shady, but I recommended a few Las Vegas hotels I thought were nice anyhow. To each their own.

My time in the futon industry has given me a little insight into what people look for in their futon mattresses. With buzz words like “Green” and “Eco” being crammed down everyone’s throats, I’ve noticed a large increase in customers looking for Chemical Free Futons, Organic Futons, and Borgate Free Futon Mattresses. So, I’d like to ask if natural futon mattresses are better? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of traditionally made and chemical free futon mattresses.

The Natural:

1. Pro - Makes you feel good about your mattresses
2. Pro - Removes unwanted chimicals from your home
3. Con - Does not provide any fire protection

The Traditional:

1. Pro - Usually longer lasting with foams
2. Pro - Provides added fire retardants
3. Con - Does include chemicals that you might not want in your house

Lately, with so much physical activities taking place in my life, I’ve taken an interest in getting in better shape! And, with that goal in mind I’ve tried to keep my snacks healthy, exercise, and add a little protein to my diet. I’m staying away from things in pill form that are to my mind, quick fixes. Things like diet pills, energy drinks, weight gainers, and acne treatment might help some people feel good, with good results. But I prefer a natural approach that focuses on diet and exercise.

So, that’s what I’m working on at this point.

This week has been rough and my head still feels a little hazy from being over used! At Dharma Boutique we received a twenty foot container, opened / inspected / photo graphed / priced most of the items, and tried to maintain my own business at Goodnight Moon Futon! I swear I must have dropped 5-10 pounds in the process. With results like that, it’s no wonder I’ll never need a diet pill to keep in shape. But, if you do, there’s plenty of info online for you to read.

Today I was browsing around the web when I found Pacific MFG, blog about futons. I was excited at first, but lost steam quickly when I saw only two posts since their inception back in December. At least they tried, but sometimes a little follow through can make a big difference.
