What is too much info?

Today we live in a world of information, if you didn’t realize that fun fact head back to your cabin and hide out! Well, in the world of all things futon related I’ve seen two schools of thought from a retail perspective.

1. Give every bit of information you can about the manufacturer, materials, reviews, etc.

or

2. Give very few details in an effort to prevent the consumer from cross shopping.

Now, I can see the benefit of both lines of selling. Or, at least before the age of internet shopping. Often retailers use the same images and product names are rarely private labeled unless required by the manufacturer. Trying to hide information from the consumer usually only sows the seeds of distrust and they often go with a more transparent retailer. So, if you sell online don’t hide things from your customers (I’m looking at you Former Employers), they’ll just find the info online somewhere else. People aren’t stupid after all.
